I would put the EHX 720 on a short list when stopping matters more than menus. You can set the second switch to stop and leave it there. The layout asks for more floor space than the TC Electronic Ditto, but it gives your foot a distinct job.

The second switch is shared. If you set it to trigger effects, you lose that same switch as an instant stop control. Do not count one control twice when you plan your live performance.

Stereo is useful only when the whole path supports it

Start looping with a clean first pass

Listen to several repeats before adding a layer. Does the end rush into the start? Is there a small gap? Record again now. More layers will not repair a poor join.
