CHANGES LOCATIONS

Brownsville, TN The Brownsville Blues Festival is moving this year to the new West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center. The site, just off I-40 at mile marker 56 in Haywood County, will give the festival expansion room and will accent the special Haywood County blues tradition.

Performances will begin Friday evening, September 29, 2000, and continue Saturday, September 30. Included Saturday will be work from two stages, the main featured performer stage and a special "acoustic" stage, the front porch of the relocated Sleepy John Estes’ residence.

Festival organizers believe the new location, in addition to expansion room, will provide the festival additional exposure because of its easy access to I-40 and the publicity generated by the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center.

Scheduled performers this year include Jimmy D. Taylor, Blind Mississippi Morris, Paul Jackson, Jimmy Duvall, William Lee Estes, Sheba and the Rhythm Kings, Zach Meyers, John Kay, Sam Cockerel and the Groove, Big Jack Johnson and the Oilers, The Anthony Gomes Band, the Commercial Appeal’s Bill Ellis and others.

Several other festival events including a BarBQ cooking contest and an arts and crafts fair will be held at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center as well.

For festival information contact Pat Cunningham (901-772-1172) or the Chamber of Commerce (901-772-2193).
