THE ROCKABILLY
REUNION
|
Jackson, Tennessee
The recent
rockabilly reunion, organized by Henry Harrison and held at the legendary Suedes
Restaurant owned by Carl Perkins daughter and son-in-law, Bart and Debbie Swift, brought
together many special musical figures from Tennessees rockabilly and country
legacies. |

Billy Poore, Ace Cannon & Billy Lee Riley |
From a literal roundtable catchup and memory
session to taping material to be included in the International Rockabilly Hall of Fame the
day was a delightful gathering and sharing of music history.
Norma Jean with Crockett Frizzell |
Norma Jean is working on a book. Wanda
Jackson is still actively performing ("as busy as ever" she said). Paul Burlison
continues working with the Burnettes in rockabilly revival and still works some in real
estate development and construction. Billy Lee Riley has a new blues CD. Billy Poore is
everywhere. Ace Cannon continues to play everywhere. Crockett Frizzells album
"Old Love Turned Brand New" reflects his continued commitment to the traditional
country music associated with the Frizzell legacy. |
All of these artists and plenty more are
scheduled to perform in Jackson during the groundbreaking weekend of the International
Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame April 13-16 in Jackson, Tennessee. For specific
information on the hall of fame contact Henry Harrison at 901-427-8521.
